|JUNIOR BULLPEN - 7th, 8th, and 9th Graders|
If you want to perform at the highest level and learn the valuable lessons to overcome obstacles, train effectively and be part of a fraternity of brothers that love the game then the “Bullpen” is the place for you. You will learn the value of comradery and how a like-minded group of dedicated athletes can push each other to achieve great success with the “Bullpen”. When you get to college you’re on your own and managing your time is crucial to your success. You will need to manage workouts, school work, classroom time, practice or game, and your social life. Why not get a head start on this. I am a firm believer in education and nothing should ever get in the way of schoolwork and getting good grades. Playing the sport you love is a privilege, so do as well as you can academically and many doors will be open to you.
I will evaluate each players strengths and weaknesses and customize a program to maximize efficiency. Each player has different physical attributes and ability, so I will identify imbalances and design a unique plan to correct deficiencies while improving strength, quickness, flexibility, and speed to maximize on-field performances. I will prepare you for your upcoming season of work by improving endurance, velocity, control, mental toughness, which will drive you to have more success.
To be successful, you need to commit to the program over the next 16 weeks. I am looking for your best effort for the hour and a half each day you are here and I promise to give you mine. You will come out of this program in mid-season form ready to perform at your very best. Understand this is a long and slow road to perfecting your craft. It’s a mental grind sometimes and you are going to have to battle through it. The mental part of this game is crucial. It is what makes good pitchers great. Your talent can only take you so far, your strong mental makeup opens the door to success. We will focus a lot on how to set up hitters, control your off-speed pitches in hitters counts, limit walks by challenging hitters by believing your stuff is better than them and trusting you have the ability to get any hitter out. Trusting that your stuff will work and when you give up a hit or walk, being able to forget about the outcome and turn your attention to the next batter. These things are so important to becoming successful.
I know everyone looks for velocity and pitchers are constantly judged on how fast they throw. While I do believe this is important at the next level, showing you can control off speed pitches and throw them for strikes, that’s what I believe separates you from the rest. Also, being able to limit the damage in an inning will give your coach a confidence in you that he knows he can put you in a tough spot in a game and you will succeed.
I’m looking for pitchers who love throwing the baseball and take pride in their craft. Let’s succeed together! Velocity isn’t everything because being able to locate and throw multiple pitches for strikes is what will sustain great pitchers. Let’s perfect the change-up, let’s throw every pitch you have in your arsenal for strikes in any count, let’s throw complete games on a consistent basis, and let’s completely make hitters feel uncomfortable in the batter’s box, and make them fear you. Let’s have a carefree mentality meaning when something goes wrong (which it always does) in a game, you shake it off and think about the next pitch. What are the things we can’t control: Umpires (balls and strikes), your fielders making a bad play, and who is in the batter’s box. You cannot worry about what you can’t control.
Your end game is going to college to pitch and continuing your baseball career, so trust that I will prepare you for success!
